DESCRIPTION:Take a tour of the traditions and history of Maryland basketry\, including American Indian basketry on the Eastern Shore\, the making of eel pots and other fishing baskets\, and other styles of baskets particular or adapted to Delmarva.  Baskets from the museum's collection will be on hand.  Our speaker will demonstrate techniques for making a market basket\, in anticipation of her basket weaving workshop.Dr. Kathleen Beauchesne is the President of the Center for Research Basketry\, Inc.\, which is a non-profit dedicated to celebrating Maryland's basket makers and its rich basketry traditions. Her research objective is to reestablish Maryland basketry history and traditions as an art and craft. With the support of Maryland Traditions\, she has been responsible for building a body of knowledge about important cultural traditions in the Delmarva region.$15 for members and advanced ticket purchases.  $20 at door.  Includes happy hour food and beverages.The 2015 History Happy Hour series is sponsored by Therrien Waddell Construction Group.
